A project by Kevin Morris, of Brunswick, with three of Dirigo R.C.’s finest! Read the description below from Kevin and check it out!
ROBERT GOMEZ
Rob was game to come out on a mid-winter day with little idea of what was in store for him, as my camera crew bundled up to capture the sights and sounds of Rob talking about his running as he ran, back and forth, on a one-mile stretch of Seaside Avenue in Saco. To get a mile of good footage Rob had to run 3 of them, and then some.
SHERI PIERS
I was able to schedule Sheri and the crew with just 2 weeks to go before Boston. I have always wanted to capture something outside of a race event with her, and this turned out to be the coolest. Like Rob, Sheri ended up running about 6 miles that day with us (after her own workout earlier) as she chased us in a pickup up & down a quiet road in Cape Elizabeth.
KRISTIN BARRY
Since I had the crew already set up I called Kristin to come at the same time as Sheri which gave us the opportunity to get 3 videos in one session. Kristin was incredibly brave to do this as at this point she still didn’t know if her injury was a fracture or something slightly less serious. Whatever it was Kristin was clearly favoring one side, but never backed down.
SHERI AND KRISTIN
These two inspiring teammates are so committed and touch – and I thank them for putting up with me. I wanted this to be fun and goofy. Well, I got fun (them) as well as goofy (me). What a treat to have them both share the road with me for a mile.
CAMERA CREW
You can’t do a good job with so many moving parts without some help. I collaborated with some great local film people to pull this off. Tom Eichler is a pro sound guy from Topsham. Jayson Lobozzo, Cape Elizabeth, is Mr. Motion, and handled the camera and stabilization issues. Rhonda Wanser, Brunswick, did a phenomenal job editing the footage – under great time pressure – into presentable videos. Peter McMillen runs the Audubon Sanctuary in Freeport and I enlisted him to drive the camera vehicle and keep us hydrated throughout the day. Lucas Ainsworth, Freeport, is breaking in to photography and helped out with whatever I asked him to do. Me? I just made sure everyone showed up and tried to keep the conversations going.
See you again soon. Kevin Morris, Brunswick, Maine.
