Good crew out in the sun at Weekly Back Cove, with Nick Denari taking another win and a summer sub-16 PB, Dave Ouellette smashing 19 for a season PB, Marah Borgman taking the women's win, Crow Norlander finishing in the top 10, Chris Harmon making it two straight weeks under 18, college-bound Grace Alexander making her 2026 summer debut, and Adane Bewset, Dan Bannon, Dave Ouellette, Seth Crockett, and Deven Abrams going 9 through 13.

Karley Piers made a fast Back Cove debut in 17:12, leading a Dirigo women's group that took places 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 with Clíodhna O'Malley, Marah Borgman, Christie Barnes, and Katie Mauro close behind. Crow Norlander led the Dirigo men under 18 minutes, with Adane Bewset, Dave Ouellette, and Nevin Duffey also in the field. Around the track, Seth Crockett did a 4:57 and 2:12 1600/800 double at MECTA, finishing 2nd in both races, Denise Curry broke the 5000m age-group record, and Lauren Austin won W45-49 at the Maine Senior Games 1500m in 5:54.

Dirigo keeps early June busy.

The June racing calendar came fast: Nick Denari ran 15:58 at Back Cove, Bethanie Brown debuted there in 17:29, and Clíodhna O'Malley, Crow Norlander, Adane Bewset, Marah Borgman, Dave Ouellette, and Nevin Duffey kept the weekly turnout strong. Heather Gallant won the YMCA Fit Fest 5K overall in 17:15, Laurel Manville placed sixth overall, Maddie Sheehan won the women's race at the Bradbury Scuffle, Dave Ouellette was seventh overall, Taylor Bechtel ran 1:20:16 at the Old Port Half, and Marah Borgman won the Maine Running Hall of Fame 5K in 19:26.

Late spring wins carry Dirigo into July.

Dirigo closed May and June with wins, podiums, and a youth state-title relay. Eliza Kerschner was third at the Vermont City Marathon in 2:54:03, Sheri Piers won the Memorial Day 5K in Cumberland, Taylor Bickford won the Market Square Day 10K, Michelle Lilienthal won the Trail to Ale 10K, and Karley Piers returned to Maine with a 23:33 win at the Gorham 4 Miler. Justin Freeman ran 15:29 at Battle Road, Daniel Bannon placed at both Memorial Day and Coconut Chase, Seth Crockett was seventh at Old Port, and Dirigo kept showing up at the Weekly Back Cove Series.

Dirigo's Thanksgiving week races were packed at the front. Veronica Graziano won the Portland Thanksgiving Day 4-Miler in 22:51, with Michelle Lilienthal second, Erica Jesseman fourth, Marah Borgman seventh, and Gretchen Speed eighth; Rob Ashby, Crow Norlander, Jon McGonagle, and Tim Stickney led the men's side. At the Greely Turkey Trot, Sheri Piers was second overall female and first 50+ in 18:16, while Will Spaulding, Dan Bannon, and Sam Chick were all inside the top 15 men. At the Maine Track Club Turkey Trot, Jonathan Clement returned in Dirigo colors with second in 17:08, Eric Sofen was fourth in 17:24, Christie Tebbetts was second woman in 21:23, and Hollie Corbett placed eighth.

Maine Marathon weekend delivers deep Dirigo results.

Dirigo's 2024 Maine Marathon weekend was loaded front to back. Jesse Orach took second overall in his marathon debut in 2:24:22, with Spencer McElwain sixth in 2:29:12, Rob Ashby winning his age group in 2:40:36, and Thomas Harvey 14th in 2:41:26. In the half marathon, Veronica Graziano was second in 1:19:07, Michelle Lilienthal fourth in 1:22:06, Sheri Piers fifth in 1:22:18, and Heather Gallant sixth in 1:22:32, with Marah Borgman, Gretchen Speed, Christine Hein, Erica Jesseman, and Kristin Barry also high in the results. Malaika Pasch ran 3:17:04 in the marathon for 17th woman and second in division, and Dirigo's master mixed relay team of Paul Greene, Peter Burke, Denise Curry, and Chelsea Peters won in 3:09:25.

Michael Gordon won the Mid-Winter 10 Mile Classic, Jesse Orach, Stan Berkow, Jeff Jones, Andy Spaulding, Nate Priest, Christina Berkow, Marah Borgman, Peter Burke, Scott Brown, and Michael Gordon led Dirigo's Irish Road Rover team win, and the Boston Marathon included masters team results plus Shiloh Schulte as first Maine finisher and Rob Ashby third M50-54. Sarah Mulcahy ran 2:44:28 at the California International Marathon to hit the Olympic Trials B standard, Tracy Guerrette narrowly missing in 2:45:48, Rob Gomez running 2:24:04, Dave Kerschner 2:39:13, and Erin Chalat 3:26:51. Matt Jacobson won his mile heat in 4:14.82 at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic, and Cayden Spencer-Thompson was All-American in the triple jump at New Balance Nationals Indoor. Dirigo also placed masters, 50+, 60+, open, and women's teams at USATF New England Cross Country; won the Trail to Ale team race behind Rob Gomez, Jesse Orach, Chris Harmon, Marah Borgman, Christina Berkow, and Christine Hein; and had Christine Hein, Tracey Guerrette, Erica Jesseman, Sheri Piers, Gretchen Speed, and Michael Gordon leading Maine Marathon results.
