July Fourth racing is on deck.

Dirigo members are looking toward a busy holiday weekend, with runners expected at Bridgton's 4 on the Fourth and the L.L.Bean July 4th 10K in Freeport. The summer calendar continues after that with weekly Back Cove 5Ks, the next Valor Twilight meet on July 18, and the L/A Triple Crown races later this summer.

17:12 5K | Dirigo women 1-2-3

Dirigo women pack the front at Back Cove.

Karley Piers made a fast Back Cove debut in 17:12, leading a Dirigo women's group that took places 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 with Clíodhna O'Malley, Marah Borgman, Christie Barnes, and Katie Mauro close behind. Crow Norlander led the Dirigo men under 18 minutes, with Adane Bewset, Dave Ouellette, and Nevin Duffey also in the field. Around the track, Seth Crockett did a 4:57 and 2:12 1600/800 double at MECTA, finishing 2nd in both races, Denise Curry broke the 5000m age-group record, and Lauren Austin won W45-49 at the Maine Senior Games 1500m in 5:54.

Dirigo keeps early June busy.

The June racing calendar came fast: Nick Denari ran 15:58 at Back Cove, Bethanie Brown debuted there in 17:29, and Clíodhna O'Malley, Crow Norlander, Adane Bewset, Marah Borgman, Dave Ouellette, and Nevin Duffey kept the weekly turnout strong. Heather Gallant won the YMCA Fit Fest 5K overall in 17:15, Laurel Manville placed sixth overall, Maddie Sheehan won the women's race at the Bradbury Scuffle, Dave Ouellette was seventh overall, Taylor Bechtel ran 1:20:16 at the Old Port Half, and Marah Borgman won the Maine Running Hall of Fame 5K in 19:26.
